The Atchison County Conservation District is a sub-division of the State of Kansas, operated by a locally elected board of supervisors. Our agency is housed in the same USDA Service Center as the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA) at:

Atchison County Conservation District will accept applications for cost-share funds for the following practices: diversion, grassed waterway, subsurface drain, terrace, underground outlet, water & sediment control basin, septic system upgrades, plugging abandoned water wells, and soil testing.
Due to a lack of available funds, all applications will be prioritized according to the threat to water quality, and must meet the following eligibility requirements.

| • | The land must be located in Atchison County. |
| • | All structures receiving cost-share assistance must be built to USDA, NRCS “Specifications and Standards.” |
| • | Abandoned water well plugging receiving cost-share assistance must follow Kansas Department of Health and Environment requirements and procedures. |
| • | Septic system upgrades must meet the Kansas Department of Health and Environments Minimum Standards for Design and Construction of Onsite Wastewater Systems and pass all county code inspections. |
| • | Cost-share is for “upgrading” an existing failing system and is not available for “new construction.” |
Cost-Share funds are not available for practices started before approval of the cost-share application. FY 2012 applications that were not approved have been cancelled.
The Department of Conservation provides funding for the Water Resources Cost-Share Program (WR) and the Non-Point Source Pollution Control Program (NPSPCP) from the Kansas Water Plan Fund.
